Tunnell's Vision
I don’t know about you but every beautiful warm day we have had lately makes me that much more ready for spring. I am tired of the cold and snow like we have had. Each year as the cold winter days and gray gloomy skies linger, I get anxious for the warmth and beauty of spring. There is just something about seeing all the gorgeous flowers starting to grow and blossom, seeing the trees begin to come to life with leaves of green, feeling and sensing the excitement of this magnificent season. As a bonus for me, I know that fishing is about to get really, really good. I look forward to the opportunity to be out on the lake enjoying time with friends and family catching fish (or at least trying). You might say that yes, it’s true, I’m getting fishing fever! It is also my prayer that you are getting ‘fishing fever’ as well. All of us are to be fishermen in our walk with Jesus. In the book of Matthew chapter 4 and verses 18-22, Jesus tells us to, “Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Each one of us is called to carry the gospel message to the world. This can be done in so many ways; we can share with others through the Word of God, we can visit with them and tell them the story of Jesus and we can also share by living our lives in a manner that reflects Christ and His love. So many times, we make excuses saying that this is not our job or our responsibility; that is what we pay the preacher for. Yes, it is my job, but it is not my job alone. Jesus in this passage is speaking to each one of us. You may say, “I don’t know how to ‘fish’ or I’m not qualified.” I recently ran across a test that you can take to see if you are qualified to share the love of Jesus. In a book written by Charles Swindoll, he shared the following test: stand right in front of a mirror and breathe directly on the mirror. If it fogs up you are qualified. Each one of us can be ‘fishers of men’ and besides we don’t have to go all alone; remember Jesus said, “Follow me,” which means He will go with us and help us all the way. Friends, it’s time to go fishing, let’s go catch some ‘fish’ for Him. Get out into the world and share the GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! Because we’re His, Michael Tunnell

by Jacob Haughthaughtjacob@gmail.com "Christ be with me, Christ within me. Christ behind me, Christ before me. Christ beside me, Christ to win me. Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me. Christ in quiet, Christ in danger. Christ in hearts of all that love me." -- St. Patrick This quote strikes my heart with how I want to live. Everything that I am, everything I do, I want Christ to be center. Being more like Jesus isn't an over night process. It's a commitment of love, sacrifice, and intentionality. Reflecting a Christ centered heart, like St. Patrick describes, shouldn't be a checklist of accomplishments. It should be a lifestyle of loving God with a passion and loving others with that same passion. Romans 12:10 says "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." To be devoted in love with one another, we the church must strive for a Christ centered life. I know you can name many relationships in your life from parents, siblings, spouse, children, and friends. In those relationships we take the time to learn and grow iwth those we love. The same can be said about our relationship with Jesus. Take time this month to have Christ be with you, within you, behind you, and before you.
